Mohammad Sahabuddin is taking oath as the new president of Bangladesh
Mohammad Sahabuddin is taking office as the 22nd President of Bangladesh. The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected President will be held at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban on Monday at 11 am. He will be administered the oath by the Speaker of the Parliament of Bangladesh, Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, cabinet members, and hundreds of distinguished guests will attend the event. Apart from this, the new president's family members will also attend the event.
Abdul Hamid's term as president for two consecutive terms will end on Monday. He is the long-time head of the state of Bangladesh.
Mohammad Sahabuddin was born in the Pabna district in 1949. He served as the President of the Pabna District Chhatra League during his student life and as the President of the Pabna District Jubo League in 1974. He was the convener of Swadhin Bangla Chhatra Sangam Parishad in Pabna district in 1971 and participated in the liberation war. He was also imprisoned in 1975. He joined the Judiciary in 1982. In 1995, he was elected as the General Secretary of the Judicial Service Association. He retired as a District and Sessions Judge after 27 years in various judicial capacities. After that, he was involved in various administrative positions.
