Ban on sale of seat belt alarm devices
Although wearing a seatbelt is mandatory, in many cases a special device or clip is used to turn off the alarm. Keeping in mind the security, this time the Consumer Protection Authority imposed a ban on the sale of all those products through e-commerce companies.
After receiving a letter from the transport ministry, the CCPA has directed five companies, Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Shopcluz, and Misho, saying that in many cases sellers are allegedly selling these devices under the name of bottle openers or cigarette lighters.
It should be ensured that the sale of all these devices is completely stopped. Companies have already stopped selling more than 13,000 devices.
By selling these products, online markets have violated consumer rights and marketing rules. It raises questions about passenger safety. Wearing a seatbelt at the time of an accident can prevent sudden airbag deployment in many cases. The passenger was less injured. But it is obstructed by the placement of the clip. On top of that, insurance companies may also refuse to pay if an accident occurs after this clip is installed. So it should be stopped selling immediately. The authorities have advised the concerned parties to be aware to stop the manufacture and sale of this device.
