Visit Chatakpur quickly on vacation at a nominal cost

Chatakpur is a small village belonging to the Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary in Darjeeling which is very sincere and very heartwarming. Chatakpur is one of the highest villages in the Darjeeling district with an elevation of about 7887 feet. Chatakpur is one of the destinations in Mora Gantabya, surrounded by solitude and silence, filled with the chirping of insects and chirping of birds, and the hospitality of simple people.

Chatakpur can be reached in just 3 to 3 and a half hours from New Jalpaiguri. Chatakpur village is divided into two parts – Upper Chatakpur and Lower Chatakpur. This village has approximately 110 people in 23 families. Lower Chatakpur has a forest department bungalow and Upper Chatakpur has a viewpoint.

There is no so-called sightseeing here. Only Kali Pokhari i.e. is a sacred water body for local people. Kali Pokhri is roughly a 12-15 minute walk from the homestays of Upper Chatakpur.

Starting with rows of pines and going through the deep forest of various small trees and bamboo trees, the journey of this Kali Pokhari is incredibly thrilling and enjoyable. But one can also trek through the forest. It is heard from local people that wild animals like leopards, bears, etc. are occasionally seen in this forest.

A lazy day can be easily spent sitting on the front porch of the homestay or in the garden with a cup of tea in the morning and afternoon watching the sunrise and sunset with Kanchenjunga. At night, if you want, you can lose yourself in the world of space in the scenic beauty of the lights of the mountain valleys of Darjeeling, Karshiang, and Sikkim from the viewpoint.
