Surat court dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's plea in 2019 defamation case. As a result of which Rahul's MP post was cancelled, along with the 2-year jail sentence was upheld.
Last month, a Surat court convicted the Congress leader and sentenced him to a maximum of two years in jail in a case related to the Modi designation. Following his conviction, his membership of Parliament was also revoked under the Representation of the People Act.
