Big Breaking: CBI notice to Abhishek, Central Investigation Agency wants to question him on Tuesday
CBI sent notice to Abhishek Banerjee. A notice has been sent to Trinamool general secretary for questioning regarding Kuntal Ghosh's letter. According to CBI sources, the notice was sent to Abhishek by email around 1:30 p.m.
On Monday, the Supreme Court gave an interim stay on the order of the Calcutta High Court and said that the CBI cannot now interrogate Abhishek Banerjee regarding Kuntal's letter.
Calcutta High Court Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay said in the directive regarding Kuntal Ghosh's letter, central agencies like ED, CBI can interrogate Abhishek if necessary. The Trinamool MP went to the Supreme Court challenging that order. The Supreme Court stayed the High Court judgment in that case. Even then, the CBI sent a letter to Abhishek for questioning, raising questions about the validity of the decision of the investigating agency. Youth leader Kuntal Ghosh has been alleging for a long time that central intelligence is pressuring him to reveal Abhishek's name. Kuntal also wrote a letter to the lower court judge against the Central Investigation Agency from jail. In that letter too, the expelled Yuva Trinamool leader of Hooghly had alleged that Central Investigation Agency officials were pressurizing him to reveal Abhishek's name. The same complaint was sent to the Hastings police station through the Superintendent of the Presidency Jail. Where Kuntal wanted police intervention. Last Wednesday, the ED raised the issue of Kuntal's complaint in the Calcutta High Court. In that case, Justice Gangopadhyay made such observation regarding Abhishek on Thursday.
Abhishek had claimed from a meeting at Shahid Minar on March 29 that the Central Investigation Agency had asked Madan Mitra and Kunal Ghosh to take his name while in custody in the Sarada case. Incidentally, Kuntal too later made the same complaint. The observation of the High Court, where Kuntal's letter is consistent with Abhishek's comments in that meeting, should be examined. In that context, Justice Gangopadhyay said to interrogate Abhishek.
