Shubhendu Adhikari's case related to Panchayet election dismissed in Supreme Court
Subhendu Adhikari's face burned in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court did not want to interfere with the Panchayat elections. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud dismissed the case before hearing it on Thursday. As a result, there was no more hurdle in announcing the Panchayat polling day.
State opposition leader Subhendu Adhikari went to the Supreme Court challenging the Calcutta High Court verdict. He wanted panchayat elections in the presence of central forces. But the Supreme Court is not willing to interfere in that case.
Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari first filed a Public Interest Litigation in the High Court challenging the state's decision to enumerate the OBC community. He alleged that in 2011, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were enumerated but other backward classes were not enumerated. According to the Palta Commission, they are doing this calculation by going door to door. Shuvendu also challenged that process. But the court said, "The High Court will not interfere in election matters for the time being." The State Election Commission will take all decisions in this regard.'' The state opposition leader went to the Supreme Court. His application was also rejected there.
