Bangladeshi cricketers may be banned in IPL! BCCI is going to take a tough stand: Report

At the end of this month, the curtain will rise on the popular cricket league of India. There are three Bangladeshi cricketers in this year's IPL . Shakib Al Hasan, Liton Das and Mustafizur Rahman.

While Shakib and Mustafizur have played together for several seasons, Liton Das is set to make his IPL debut. Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das will play for Kolkata Knight Riders while Mustafizur will play for Delhi Capitals.

These three cricketers applied to the Bangladesh Cricket Board to play in the IPL. BCB did not approve their application as the national team was playing at that time. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has clarified this matter before the country, not the IPL. And BCCI is angry with this. On the other hand, the situation is the same in Sri Lanka. There are four Sri Lankan cricketers in this year's IPL. Sri Lankan cricketers will not be able to play the first few matches due to the series against New Zealand.

In such a situation, the highest governing body of Indian cricket (BCCI) is going to take a strict stand. According to sources, players from these two countries may be banned from IPL 2024 i.e. the next season. This is what is being heard inside the board. In fact, both the countries have their respective bilateral series in the IPL. Due to which many players participating in the IPL will not be able to participate in the IPL for a few days.

In an interview to Inside Sports, a franchise official said, 'We cannot complain because the BCCI itself talks to other boards. But yes, franchises will hesitate to pick players from certain countries. Earlier, Taskin Ahmed also did not get NOC. If they don't want their players to play, they shouldn't register. The thinking about Bangladeshi players will change in the future.'

Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan Papon told local media, 'Look, I have been asked about this issue time and again and I have given the same answer. Before the IPL auction, the IPL officials asked about the availability of our players and we gave them the schedule. It is on that basis that they place players in the auction. There is no chance of anything else happening now.'

Keeping all this in mind, a senior BCCI official told InsideSports, 'It is entirely up to the players to convince their board. England, New Zealand and other big boards have found ways to do this. No one can deny the popularity of IPL and the boards also get their share by releasing the players. But if they decide otherwise, that's up to them.'
