They have warned of protests across the country against same-sex marriage. The President of the Tripura branch of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Mahendrapal Singh, has warned of a nationwide movement against the appeal filed in the Supreme Court claiming the validity of same-sex marriage. On Monday, they called for a protest program in Agartala.
It is known that there will be a big movement against this marriage very soon. According to him, this petition has hurt the traditional faith of the country. Not only the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, but the Center has also objected to same-sex marriage before. According to the government, the issue of recognizing same-sex marriage should be left to parliament. Earlier, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju opposed the hearing of this case by the Supreme Court. He even expressed that the decision should be entrusted to the people of the country in this regard.
A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on April 18 regarding the legality of same-sex marriage. A constitution bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud of the apex court raised concerns about the future of same-sex couples. The constitution bench also expressed fear that fundamental rights may be violated if same-sex marriage does not get legal recognition in India.
