The Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court is Shiv Gyanam, Recruitment Notification Center
Acting Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court Tirunelveli Subbaiah Shivagnam has been notified by Union Law Ministry for appointment as Chief Justice. On February 9, Supreme Court Collegium recommended the name of Justice Shiv Gyanam as the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court.
A collegium of three judges including the Chief Justice of the apex court notified the recommendation. On March 30, the Union Law Ministry issued a new notification approving that name as Acting Chief Justice. He was handling the duties of acting Chief Justice from April 1. After this, on Monday, the central government issued a notification appointing him as the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court.
Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has already announced the appointment of Justice Shivagnam as the Permanent Chief Justice of the High Court on Twitter. Congratulating Justice Shivgyanam there, Rijiju wrote, "I extend my best wishes to Justice Shivgyanam as the new Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court."
On 25 October 2021, he was sworn in as the second senior-most judge (after the Chief Justice) of the High Court. Justice Shiv Gyanam has tenure as a judge in the High Court till September 15, 2025.
