Darwin was dropped from the CBSE Class 10 syllabus
After the Mughal era, Charles Darwin fell into the trap. Charles Darwin's theory of evolution has been dropped from the CBSE board's class 10 syllabus.
Scientists and science teachers' society joined the protest against this decision. Through an open letter, they have expressed deep concern about this. NCERT has decided to drop the chapter on evolution from the CBSE board's class 10 syllabus in the new academic year. So far the chapter was taught under the name 'Heredity and Evolution'.
The evolution part has been omitted from it. From now on students will be taught only the part of genealogy. Scientists protested strongly against this decision. They protested this incident with an open letter.
In the letter, the scientists said, the knowledge of evolution is very important to develop the student's sense of science. If they do not know the evolution, their science education will remain deficient. They have also expressed concern that the deprivation of education in this way is cheating on the students.
This has been protested by an open letter addressed to NCERT by a scientific voluntary organization in the country called 'Break Through Science Society'. In the letter, they also demanded to bring back Darwin's theory of evolution in the syllabus of the CBSE board. Among the signatories of the letter are scientists and researchers associated with several top educational institutions of the country like IIT, IISER, and Tata Institute.
