What did Goddess Saraswati do, because of which Kumbhakarna slept for six months?
Kumbhakarna is Ravan's brother in Ramayana. We know that Kumbhakarna spends six months sleeping. But was he like this from the beginning or not? Know why Kumbhakarna used to sleep for six months.
We all know about Kumbhakarna that Kumbhakarna slept for six months and woke up once because of eating food. But Kumbhakarna did not sleep like this from the beginning. There are several theories about this. One is that Kumbhakarna came to give him a boon after many penances. The book was planned to seek the seat of Indra.
Lord Indra came to know this and asked Goddess Saraswati to stop Kumbhakarna from asking for this boon. So Goddess Saraswati held her tongue while asking for Kumbhakarna's boon. And so instead of asking for Indrasana, Kumbhakarna pronounced Nidrasana.
From then on, Kumbhakarna spent six months sleeping. Another is that when Ravana, Vibhishana, and Kumbhakarna were doing penance in Brahma's palace, Brahma, pleased with them, appeared before them. Then he gave Ravana and Vibhishana boons according to their wishes.
But Brahma was worried about going to Kumbhakarna. Because Brahma thought that if Kambhakarna ate his fill, he would soon perish completely. And that's why Saraswati stuck her tongue before asking for the boon to deceive Kumbhakarna.
And so the boon that Kumbhakarna wanted to receive did not happen. Instead, Kumbhakarna asked for the boon of sleeping for six months, as a result of which Kumbhakarna spent six months sleeping.
