Veteran Actress Tanuja Admitted to Mumbai Hospital for Age-Related Ailments

Renowned veteran actress Tanuja, aged 80, has been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai due to age-related ailments, according to sources. The critically ill artist was admitted on Sunday evening and is currently under the observation of doctors in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Juhu.

A report from PTI assures the public that Tanuja is under observation and is reportedly doing well, with no cause for immediate concern.

Daughter of filmmaker Kumarsen Samarth and actress Shobhana Samarth, Tanuja has left an indelible mark on both Hindi and Bengali cinema. With a career spanning several decades, she boasts an impressive portfolio of more than 300 films.

Tanuja, who began her acting journey as a child actor alongside her elder sister Nutan in the film "Hamari Betty" (1950), later transitioned into a leading lady with "Hamari Yaad Ayegi" (1961). Her filmography includes notable works such as "Baharon Phir Vi Aayengi" (1966), "Jewel Thief" (1969), "Paisa Ya Pyaar" (1969), "Haathi Mere Saathi" (1971), and "Mere Jeevan Saathi" (1972).

The veteran actress gained immense popularity for her collaborations with actors Uttam Kumar and Rajesh Khanna. In Bengali cinema, she showcased her acting prowess in films like "Deya Neya" (1963), "Antony Firingee" (1967), "Tin Bhubaner Pare" (1969), and "Rajkumari" (1970).

Tanuja is married to filmmaker Shomu Mukhopadhyay and is the mother of two daughters, actresses Kajol and Tanisha.
