There are two and a half lakh vacant posts in Indian Railways, Railway Minister said in Lok Sabha

There are more than 2.5 lakh vacancies in Indian Railways. Most of them are Group C vacancies. Today, on Monday, the central government gave such information to the parliament. Indian Railways has a total of 2 lakh 48 thousand 895 vacancies in Group C across all zones. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnab gave this information in response to a question raised by BJP MP Sushil Kumar Modi.

Group C has a maximum number of vacancies in Northern Railway (32 thousand 468). Then most vacancies are in Eastern Railway. There are 39 thousand 869 vacancies in Eastern Railway. There are 25 thousand 281 vacancies in Central Railway.

2 thousand 70 posts are vacant in Group A and B. That means in total there are 2 lakh 50 thousand 965 vacancies in Indian Railways. The largest employer in the country, Railways employs more than 11 lahks 75 thousand people (as on February 1, 2023). Till December last year, there were 3 lakh 12 thousand vacancies in Indian Railways. Till June this year, 1 lakh 28 thousand 349 candidates have been panelized for Group C post.
