Taliban released 3 journalists on the condition of not reporting critical news

Taliban militants arrested 3 journalists Noor-Agha Sadat, Safiullah Safa and Ghulam-Ali Wahdat from Baghlan province of Afghanistan for reporting criticizing Taliban policies on several issues, including banning women's education. The present terrorist ruling party of Afghanistan started to prepare severe punishment by accusing them of treason. The detained journalists were eventually released after promising not to publish material critical of the Taliban.

Reporter of Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA) in Baghlan is Nur-Agha Sadat and cameraman Safiullah Safa. Ghulam-Ali Wahdat Tanveer is a local reporter for Shams TV. All three were released Thursday by the Taliban's intelligence agency through the mediation of Afghan media advocacy groups.

The Taliban have numerous precedents for detaining, torturing and imprisoning journalists critical of their policies. Once again, the Taliban's anger on the media has created an adverse reaction in the media. The Afghan Journalists Union and the Free Journalists Association called the detention of the journalists illegal and demanded that the case be handed over to the Media Oversight Committee for investigation by the Taliban and then to other relevant authorities if necessary. However, the Taliban have not yet commented on the reason for the arrest of the journalists.
