Piyush Goyal's strong message to prevent cheating on e-commerce
Government is not against discounts on commerce sites. Industry and commerce minister Piyush Goyal made it clear that cheating customers by luring low prices and favoring one class of sellers will not be tolerated. His message at a recent event was that non-customer shopping and other fraudulent practices are against FDI norms.
As a result, it will not be accepted at all. Rather, the center will try in every way to protect the interests of buyers and small traders. He also advised various e-commerce companies to take advantage of the government's Open Network for Digital Commerce platform to promote online shopping in a transparent manner.
Earlier, in the draft e-commerce policy, the Center had announced rules to stop the spellingling of products online. It has also been said to take advantage of technology to prevent the sale of a product for a very low and fixed period of time. Traders' organizations are increasing pressure on the issue.
According to Goyal, the Center has no objection if the buyer gets the product at a lower price. But the main disadvantages are two. Firstly, the government is not willing to accept the way in which products are sold at a lower price than the cost of production through such discounts. In this case, he pointed out the example of low-priced Chinese products. And secondly, it will not be acceptable to block the customer's choice of products. He said that the new e-commerce policy that is being introduced has looked into these issues.
