Retrenched workers will receive a compensation package of 2 million rupees! Google's announcement

Hundreds of thousands of workers have been laid off from Google in January. However, the laid-off Irish workers will receive a huge compensation package, Google authorities said.

The 240 employees of Google's Ireland office who were retrenched in January are set to receive a compensation package of around Rs 2.6 crore. 85 employees of sales department, 80 employees of technology department and 75 employees of support department are going to get this package.

It is known that the workers were associated with Google since 2003. Suddenly in January, Google authorities decided to cut 4.3 percent of the total 5,500 employees of Google's Ireland office. In this context, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said, this step has been taken for the good of the company.

The retrenched workers will also get 90 days of paid leave, it has been reported. According to sources, many workers are not satisfied with this compensation. They feel that they could have earned much more money if they had kept the job. However, an apology letter has also been sent by the Google CEO expressing regret to the laid off employees.
