Parking fees are doubling across the city from today

The parking fee in the city is going to increase from Saturday. It is doubling in one fell swoop. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation's decision to increase the fee in the budget for the financial year 2023-24 has been sealed. Finally, that decision is going to be implemented.

According to the parking department of Kolkata Municipality, until now, two-wheelers had to pay 5 rupees for one hour. But from April 1, it is increasing by 10 taka. At the same time, it is also known that in the case of two-wheelers, they have to pay rs.40  if they keep it in the parking lot for 3 hours. If you keep it for 4 hours you have to pay rs. 60 , for 5 hours you have to pay rs.80 and after 5 hours you have to pay rs.50 per hour. In the case of four-wheelers, 10 rupees per hour was to be paid. From April 1, it is also increasing by rs.20.

Bus, lorry parking fees are also doubling due to this shock. Until now, you had to pay 20 rupees for bus and lorry parking. 40 to be paid in the new fee structure. On the other hand, in case of 4-wheelers, the parking fee for 2 hours will be rs. 40. It is double for 3 hours. 80 should be paid. After 4 hours you have to pay rs.120 . After 5 hours you have to pay rs. 160. If the time limit of 5 hours is passed, 100 rupees must be paid for the hour.

In case of bus or lorry, if you park for 4 hours, you will have to pay rs. 240 from now. Rs. 320 will be charged if more than five hours. And if you pass this time limit, you will have to pay rs. 200 per hour. Meanwhile, despite the increase in parking fees, there is no concern about illegal parking. According to Kolkata Purnigam's own data, around 35 to 38 percent of the city's roads are occupied by illegal parking. Allegedly, ruling party unions have been controlling every illegal parking lot for years.
