Now you can travel by train with pets, know the new rules of IRCTC

It may soon be possible to take pets on long train journeys. Ministry of Railways has proposed to introduce an online ticket booking facility for dogs and cats in AC-1 class coaches of trains. A senior railway official said that at present, a passenger has to book a ticket at the platform parcel booking counter to take his pet on the train. Due to this, the passengers have to be in extreme trouble. Keeping this in mind, an online ticket booking facility for dogs and cats is being considered.

Pets will be booked only after the passenger's ticket is confirmed. For this, the passenger needs to fill in his PNR and mobile number on the IRCTC website. A one-time password will come to the authorized number. Once the OTP is entered, the booking process will begin. After the process is completed, a booking message will appear on the mobile phone. After the chart is generated this message will reach the Hand Held Terminal (HHT) of the Ticket Checking Staff (TTE). IRCTC website will be linked with Parcel Management System. Fare etc. will be determined through PMS at the time of ticket booking. Bookings will not be refunded. PMS is also being installed at Parcel House located at Gorakhpur, the headquarters of North Eastern Railway. PMS has been installed at Nakaha Forest Station. Passengers in AC First and First Class are allowed the facility of taking one pet with them. For this, it is mandatory to reserve the kupa.

Pets are not allowed in AC II, AC III, and Sleeper classes. For their pets, special dog boxes are also being built in the train's power cars, including Linkhof Mann Busch (LHB) coaches. Their pet bookings will continue at Parcel House. The fare is 40kg for the dog box and 60kg for the first AC coupe. Not only pets but also other animals are transported from one place to another by railways. Sheep, goats, pigs, elephants, and horses are also booked. There are different rules for everyone.

The official said that the Railway Board has asked CRIS to make changes in the software to enable online booking of cattle on the IRCTC website. Railway officials say they are considering giving TTE the right to book tickets for dogs and cats.
