More than 8,000 primary and secondary schools are about to be closed amid lack of students and recruitment corruption

The state is currently in a frenzy over recruitment corruption in state government schools (Almost 8,000 schools will be shut down in West Bengal). Former state education minister Partha Chatterjee and many other top leaders of the ruling party were arrested on charges of illegal recruitment. But arrest is essential.

Thousands of recruitment cases are still stuck in legal limbo.

There are no teachers in many schools in the state due to the suspension of recruitment. But there is also the opposite picture. There are teachers, classrooms, notebooks, blackboards, everything. But who will read? There are no students! Only for that reason, the doors of more than 8 thousand government and government-aided schools will be locked.

In the face of the closure of 8,207 schools across the state due to a lack of students, such sensational information has emerged in the government report. It is known that Kolkata schools are the most on this list. But the districts are not left out. It even, includes pre-primary and primary schools as well as secondary-level schools. Of these, 226 schools have no students. The condition of the rest is similar. Somewhere there are not even 50 students.

But then will the schools really close? The state is already consolidating or merging schools with low student numbers. Private and public joint ventures are also being considered to utilize the closed schools differently. However, the future of the schools is still pending before those plans are implemented in the dark.
