Mamata Banerjee Launches Yegheshree Project to Empower SC/ST Students

In a significant move towards inclusive education and empowerment, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee unveiled the Yegheshree project on Monday at the Dhandhanya Stadium. The initiative is set to provide free training to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students, guiding them from entrance exams to government job placements, including crucial exams like JEE, NEET, and WBJEE.

The Yegheshree project, a brainchild of the West Bengal government, aims to bridge educational gaps and create equal opportunities for students from marginalized communities. The launch event saw a gathering of educators, government officials, and enthusiastic students eager to embark on a journey of enhanced learning and career prospects.

Under this pioneering scheme, SC and ST students will receive comprehensive coaching to prepare for entrance examinations such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), and the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE). The project aims not only to increase the representation of these communities in higher education institutions but also to empower them for competitive government job examinations.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, addressing the audience, emphasized the government's commitment to fostering an inclusive and merit-based education system. She highlighted the Yegheshree project as a crucial step towards breaking barriers and ensuring that no talented student is left behind due to financial constraints.

"I believe in equal opportunities for every child, regardless of their background. The Yegheshree project is a manifestation of our commitment to providing quality education and empowering our SC and ST students to achieve their dreams," said Chief Minister Banerjee during her address.

The project is expected to benefit thousands of students, opening doors to professional and academic success. With the provision of free training, counselling, and academic resources, the Yegheshree project strives to create a level playing field for SC and ST students aspiring for careers in engineering, medicine, and other government services.

The launch ceremony concluded with the distribution of educational materials and resources to the enrolled students, symbolizing the commencement of their educational journey under the Yegheshree project. As the initiative takes root, it holds the promise of transforming lives and contributing to the building of a more equitable society.
