The central government moved towards the second step. Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a big announcement to end the drug smuggling business. India will become a drug-free country by 2047, Shah said in front of police personnel deployed to prevent drug smuggling at a program on Wednesday.

Drugs have been recovered several times from different states of the country. Drugs were recovered by nose checking at different places. This time, the central government has taken another step in that direction. The Union Home Minister said on Wednesday that the fight against drugs should be done above politics. Everyone should take forward this issue regardless of which party is in government in which state.

He also said that from June 2022 to February 2023, 6 lakh kg of drugs have been recovered. Drugs worth 7 thousand of crore rupees were destroyed by burning. At the same time, Shah also said that many countries could not fight against drugs due to some mistakes Drug trafficking in intermediate states is often a hotbed of local politics.

Even Punjab's fugitive Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh has been accused of involvement in drug smuggling. Experts believe that Amit Shah's comments are also significant in this climate.
