Howrah's Ghosh house chariot, know that history
The chariot of Shulati Ghosh is one of the famous chariots of Bengal. People from different parts come together in this chariot fair. One of the attractions of Rath is a puppet dance and various events. But today all that is fading slowly. But even today the Rath Utsav is organized at Shulati Ghosh house following all the customs.
According to locals, this chariot was equivalent to Mahesh's chariot of Hooghly. Many people used to pull the rope of the chariot.
Today, the huge wooden chariot is no more, replaced by a 20 to 25 feet high iron chariot. This chariot has been taken from the area adjacent to Ghoshbari to the Shulati field for the past few years. A fair has been organized in this field for about 200 years since the Zamindari period.
Once upon a time, many people from nearby villages used to come to this chariot fair. Even today, fairs are organized during the Rath season, where everything from earthenware to tree saplings is available. Although reduced in size and volume, the charm of this chariot is still felt by common people.
In this context, Pintu Ghosh, a member of the Ghosh family, said that once upon a time, many people used to come to the chariot festival of the landlord Ghosh family. Even today, a fair is organized in the field on the occasion of the 200-year-old chariot. Rath is organized through Jagannath Sannayatra and various rituals. However, although some cuts have been made to the programme, the splendour of the fair has not diminished at all.Arrested for making fake notes
