"Dunki" Rakes in ₹49.20 Crore at Box Office Despite Day 2 Drop!

Shah Rukh Khan's latest film, "Dunki," directed by Rajkumar Hirani, has been making waves at the box office, albeit with its share of ups and downs.

On the first day, the film opened to a promising ₹30 crore, but it faced a dip on the second day, bringing the total collection to ₹49.20 crore. Despite the domestic challenges, the movie found success overseas, raking in ₹58 crore on its initial day.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala predicts a robust weekend for "Dunki," estimating a second-day net box office collection of ₹21 crore or more. The overall occupancy stood at 31.22%, with Mumbai and Chennai showing the highest engagement among Indian cities.

The film, centered around the theme of 'donkey flight,' explores illegal immigration with a star-studded cast, including Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover. It's a saga of friendships, borders, nostalgia for home, and love.

Gauri Khan, co-producer of "Dunki" and Shah Rukh Khan's wife, expressed gratitude for the global love, announcing a worldwide gross box office collection of ₹58 crore. The caption on her post reads, "Came from a long distance... Now it seems that we will go a long distance, with your love... Watch #Dunki - In Cinemas Now!"

The film marks Shah Rukh Khan's third and final release of the year and his first collaboration with director Rajkumar Hirani. Despite facing lower opening numbers compared to expectations, "Dunki" has received praise for its emotional depth, humor, and engaging storytelling, characteristic of Rajkumar Hirani's signature style.

As audiences gear up for 2024, "Dunki" remains a captivating cinematic experience, blending love, heartbreaks, laughter, tears, hope, failure, and soul-soothing music. Whether it's the overseas success or the mixed domestic reception, "Dunki" proves to be a talking point in the world of Bollywood.
