The Meteorological Department has predicted a heat wave. Heat wave is likely in North and South Bengal before Bengali New Year. Heat wave can continue for 6 consecutive days. The weather will be hot and dry. There will also be discomfort due to humidity. Dry hot wind will blow.

Yesterday, the highest temperature of the day was 36.5 degrees Celsius in Alipore, Kolkata. It was 36.5 degree Celsius in Dumdum. Salt Lake or Bidhannagar was 37.6 degrees Celsius.

Temperature in Bankura is 38.2 degrees Celsius. 36.5 degree Celsius in Asansol. 36.8 degrees Celsius in Sriniketan and 37 degrees Celsius in North Bengal's Malda.

The temperature will gradually increase till next Sunday. After that, the maximum temperature will increase from Monday to Saturday. 6 to 7 districts of Bengal may experience 5 degrees or more above normal temperature. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heat wave from April 10 to 15. Meteorologists fear heat waves in the western districts of South Bengal along the coast in Gangetic West Bengal and Malda and South Dinajpur in North Bengal.

There is almost no chance of rain till April 15. Very little chance in one or two districts of South Bengal. There may be light rain. Chance of light rain with thunder in next 24 hours in Darjeeling and Kalimpong of North Bengal. Chance of rain is also low in North Bengal from Friday. Between April 10 and April 15, skin irritation may occur in this summer. Meteorologists have advised to wear cotton clothes and drink more water. Step out of the house as little as possible between 11 am and 4 pm
