Adi Karunamayi Kali Mandir, Devotees from abroad also come for the Goddess

Raiganj is one of the oldest cities in North Bengal. Here is the awakening compassionate Adi Kali temple. It is said that the worship of this goddess is more than 500 years old. However, the devotion of the devotees did not decrease, the number of books increased. Because there are many miraculous stories surrounding this temple. About 500 years ago, a Punjabi saint came to the banks of the Kulik River to practice Tantra.

He started Sadhana by building a Panchamundi seat here. Devotees claim that the saint achieved success by sitting on the Panchamundi seat built on the banks of the Kulik River.

The saint started the Kali Puja by establishing the Ghat at the seat of Panchamundi. Devotees believe, here is the immeasurable glory of the goddess. Devotees could often hear the footsteps of the goddess. The glory of this Punjabi saint's shrine spread far and wide. In 1809, Shankarnath Chowdhury, a descendant of Maharaja Dinnath, built the Goddess Temple around the altar of Panchamundi. Saint Satyananda Tirtha Dandaswamy of Shankaracharya Mutt in Benares brought a hard stone idol to this temple from Benares.

That idol was established in this temple. Since then, the goddess has been worshiped in this idol.

This temple at the port of Raiganj came to be known as Adi Kalimata Mandir. The goddess was established on the tenth tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the Jaishtha month. Keeping that in mind, a big festival was organized in this temple on that day. Even today, the descendants of Sadhak Bamakshyapa have been worshiping here for generations. Devotees travel to this temple from Assam to Punjab, Bihar to Uttar Pradesh and various foreign states.

Many fans came from abroad. Devotees throng here during Diwali Puja. Here the goddess is worshiped according to tantra. Sholamach is offered to the goddess. It is said that if you make a vow to the goddess, it will be fulfilled.
