5 out of 10 policemen martyred in Dantewada were Maoists before!

In Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, the incident of a police vehicle being blown apart by Maoist IEDs is still fresh. 10 policemen and drivers were martyred. It is known that among the 10 policemen who died in this terrible Maoist attack, 5 of them were Maoists in the past.

They left the path of terror and returned to the mainstream, joining the District Reserve Guard (DRG) department of the police. But such a cruel irony of fate, that terror brutally took away the life! On Wednesday, the DRG vehicle was returning after searching the deep forest of Dantewada. The Maoists were targeting that convoy. A 50 kg IED was planted in the forest of Aranpur, 450 km from Raipur. Last week there was also a threat letter in advance of a major attack. But even after that disaster could not be avoided. The entire car was completely destroyed by the explosion. 10 police personnel and the driver of the car died. According to police sources, out of the 11 police personnel who died in Wednesday's attack, including the driver, 5 were associated with Maoist organizations in the past. Between 2017 and 2022, all of them surrendered and joined the Chhattisgarh Police, leaving the path of Maoism. They are Head Constable Jaga Sodhi (35), Munna Kadti (40), Constable Hariram Mandavi (36), Jaga Kawasi (22), and Rajaram Karatham (25). Jaga Sodi Sumer was a resident of Arlampalli village, Munna Kadti's house was in Mudar village of Dantewada. Both of them joined the police from Maoists in 2017. Similarly, Dantewada residents Hariram Mandavi and Rajuram Karatam joined the police in 2020 and 22. Earlier they were Maoists. Jaga Kawasi, a resident of Bare Gadam village in Dantewada, joined the police again just last month. It is known that efforts are being made to restore peace in Bastar's Dantewada and large areas of Maoist-dominated areas for the past few years. The administration has repeatedly called upon the local youth to surrender the path of terrorism. Job resources are also provided for them. Responding to this proposal, many youths left the path of Maoism and joined the state police. The five dead were among them.
