Breaking News: Calcutta High Court ordered central forces to be deployed on Hanuman Jayanti

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed concern two days ago that there may be attempts to spread scattered unrest in Bengal on Hanuman Jayanti on April 6. In the atmosphere of concern, the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday ordered that Central Paramilitary forces should be deployed in Bengal on Hanuman Jayanti to maintain the law and order situation.

A division bench headed by Acting Chief Justice TS Sivanjanam of the High Court said the withdrawal of central forces does not mean that law and order has broken down in the state. Central forces are ordered to be deployed to assist the state police.

Central forces are normally deployed during assembly or Lok Sabha polls. Apart from that, the order to bring down central forces to maintain the law and order situation in Bengal did not happen during the remembrance period. Opposition leader Subvendu Adhikari filed a case in Calcutta High Court on the day after Ram Navami regarding the incident of communal clashes in Shivpur in Howrah. He demanded that the CBI be given the responsibility of investigating the Shivpur incident. After the Rishada incident, another case was filed in the High Court.

Those two cases were combined and heard on this day in the division bench led by the Acting Chief Justice. The state government informed the court that a new trend of observing Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti in Bengal has been seen for the last five years. Applications have been submitted to take out 2 thousand processions on Hanuman Jayanti.

In fact, the state government also has the intelligence that there may be sporadic disturbances in the state on Hanuman Jayanti. According to the ruling party, it can be done by conspiracy. Behind which not only Bengali BJP but also Delhi has fuel. After hearing the state's statement, the High Court said that no political person, leader or minister or common man can make any provocative comments in public. Besides, the court ordered that those who will hold the Hanuman Jayanti procession must give a bond saying that in case of any disturbance, the organization or the organizers of the procession will be responsible. The police will decide the route of the procession. No procession can be held in any place where Section 144 is in force. The police will also allow the number of people in the procession. Since the Hanuman Jayanti celebrations are running short, states have been directed to send requisitions to the Center for paramilitary forces soon. A division bench of the Acting Chief Justice ordered the deployment of these forces in sensitive areas subject to discussions by both the Center and the states.
